This is Brenna's birth story:
Brenna went in at 11:00 for a scheduled c section that was supposed to start at 12:00. Another mother was rushed in before for an emergency c section. (Praying for that mother and baby). Brenna went back at 12:45 to get prepped. A week prior she told me about the scheduled c section and I could tell how distraught she was. Ellie was breached and the doctor decided a c section would be best. Her son was not a c section so I can't even imagine all the questions and concerns she has. Some like to say the c section is the quick way but that is not the case. It is a tough decision to make. Brenna was nervous and anxious at the same time. I could see the pain through her eyes. After six tries for her IV, they finally got it. She said, "that was the worst part besides the spinal tap." That first cry was the sweetest cry a mother could ever hear. I leaned over and saw Brenna had tears streaming down her face. She is such a strong woman! She knew everything would be okay. It was so many emotions at once. Knowing the decision they made was the right one. Ellie had a rough entrance. She was definitely a feisty little one. Coming out, fluid filled her lungs more than they expected. The nurses worked harder and longer to get her to cry louder and harder. Brenna had such outstanding nurses. Talking Ellie through it like it was their own child. Soon after she was taken to the nursery to get more oxygen. Brenna patiently waited "twiddling her thumbs." It felt like days while waiting to see your precious blessing. She couldn't wait to finally hold her baby girl for the first time. When Ellie;s oxygen levels improved, she was able to come in for a hour. Such an amazing bonding experience. I could tell how tired Brenna was. I could tell by her low eyes and shaking body. Despite being tired, her excitement outweighed it all. Skin to skin while breastfeeding, Ellie felt right at home. Everything about Ellie was perfect. Her cute little cheeks, little toes, and full head of hair. She didn't want to leave her mother for one second. Big brother Madden arrived with a huge smile on his face. When he saw her through the glass, he kept saying how pretty she was. I swear he smiled the entire time. When Ellie came into the room, he would ask when can I hold her with the biggest grin. Whenever someone asked him if he was excited to have a sister, he would shake his head with an exaggerated yes. Even though Brenna wasn't planning for a c section, she's pretty damn incredible if you ask me. Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl. Ellie is healthy and happy. Her name actually comes from her father's two grandmother's names put together. Her name is special just like her. <3
