Hire An Experienced Newborn Photographer
My clients often mention how comfortable and prepared they are when talking to me. I strive to ensure your experience is one of a kid. That means my qualifications matter. You want to have a peace of mind knowing your little one is in good hands. Over the years I have seen new photographers do unsafe poses. I have tried my best to educate but some don’t want to hear it. I am writing this blog to help you find the qualified photograph you’re looking for. It’s not always simple because it comes with experience.
Welcoming a new baby into the world is one of life’s greatest joys. Those first few weeks are full of sweet snuggles, tiny details, and unforgettable emotions. When it comes to capturing your baby’s earliest days, choosing an experienced newborn photographer truly matters. Newborn photography isn’t just about pretty poses and props. Babies are delicate and require careful handling at all times. An experienced photographer knows how to safely position your baby, recognize when they’re uncomfortable, and keep the studio environment warm and secure. Safety is always the top priority.
Babies have their own rhythms, and professional newborn photographers understand how to work with them. Whether that means taking breaks for feeding, using soothing techniques, or knowing the best time of day for sleepy poses. This expertise leads to a smoother session (and a calmer baby!).
An experienced newborn photographer has the training to gently guide your baby into natural, comfortable poses that highlight their tiny features. They also bring an artistic eye. Knowing how to use light, angles, and styling to create timeless images you’ll treasure forever. As new parents, you already have so much on your plate. Hiring a trusted, experienced professional gives you peace of mind that your baby is in good hands and that these once-in-a-lifetime memories will be beautifully preserved.
A few things to know is:
Some photographs are a combinations of a few photographs. Meaning hands are on baby at all times.
Wraps need to tight but able to place a finger in them.
Hands under chin helps the airway. The wrap shouldn’t be around their neck.
Babies love warm weather because of the womb. However, temperature shouldn’t be over 84 when wrapped.
Babies need to be checked for any loose strings around fingers and toes before wrapping.
Photographer should know soothing and calming techniques. Notice their body movements.
Photographers don’t have courses so don’t be scared to ask safety techniques and CPR registration.
Babies should be spotted. Which means photographer should be close and some poses require hands hovering. Never leave baby unattended.
Tieback and/or bonnets need to have a loose piece in the back. Even making sure you’re able to get a finger in. Should always check.
Ask your photographer how long they have been in business.
